This weekend, a few college friends visited from out of town — and wow, was it fun.
The late nights, the laughter, the camaraderie.
It felt like… college.
Four years ago, when I left for school, everyone said something along the lines of:
Enjoy your time in college, it will fly by faster than you think.
In the moment, I didn’t believe them. Four years sounded like a long time.
Then I blinked.
And it was gone.
We spend so much energy worrying about what’s next when we should really be embracing today.
So in the spirit of presence, I’m keeping it short today.
I’m a big quotes guy, so I here are a few of my favorites about living in the moment, with a quick takeaway after each:
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
It’s a fast paced world, but you can still choose to slow down.
Enjoy the little things in life because one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things.
Eating lunch with a friend. Watching a movie with a loved one. Reading with your child. Sometimes it is the small moments that leave the biggest marks.
Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.
Stop planning, start doing.
You never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.
What feels ordinary today may be what you miss most tomorrow.
I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them.
Most of the time, you won’t realize the last time… was the last time.
Yesterday is written.
Tomorrow isn’t promised.
Make the most of today.

🌱 This week’s step worth taking
For the rest of today, enjoy every little moment.
Going on a walk.
Driving to the store.
Cooking dinner.
Acknowledge that everything in life is a gift, and be thankful for it.

🔄 Misstep of the week
This week has been filled with the long, stressful, but fun, process of finding an apartment in Chicago.
Like any big decision, it came with a lot of questions:
Where do I want to live?
What kind of apartment do I want?
How much am I willing to spend?
But instead of addressing these questions head-on… I avoided them.
I kept researching more and more neighborhoods, opening 20 tabs and removing zero. I convinced myself I was being thorough — but really, I was stalling.
I was putting off the decisions that mattered most.
Well no more.
No more research. No more stalling. Time to answer the important questions.

🙌 Step Spotlight
Summer is a beautiful time of year, but it can also be busy.
Between work, plans, and to-do lists, it’s easy to forget to slow down and simply enjoy the season.
This week, Brigid set aside time to enjoy a warm, beautiful summer evening by the lake.
Because the beauty of summer isn’t in the plans… it’s in the pause.
Way to go Brigid ☀️
