Life happens in days, don’t let them blur together
Small moments matter just as much as the big ones. Here’s how to remember them.

I have lived for 8,197 days.
Today makes one more. Just a single day, about 0.01% of my life.
And tomorrow? Even less.
With individual days making up such a small sliver of our lives, it’s easy to let them slip by unnoticed.
But life happens in days.
Everything you’ll ever experience — every moment, every laugh, every memory — happens in the course of a single day. That’s why it’s important not just to live them… but to remember them.
The big days are easy to remember, because we’re told to remember them.
Graduations. Engagements, Weddings.
People tell you to soak it in.
So we do.
We take pictures, pause for moments of reflection, try to capture how we feel.
Take my college graduation for example.
Walking into Folsom Field. Listening to the commencement speaker. Wandering campus one last time with friends.
I took mental pictures of each moment — and now, those are the most vivid memories of the weekend.
But those weren’t the only moments that mattered.
The small moments matter too. The quiet ones. The spontaneous ones. The ones that sneak into your routines and could easily go unnoticed.
A sunset walk with a friend.
A small conversation over lunch.
A perfect, unexpected laugh.
Those moments might not come with a ceremony, but they are your life.
So here’s the reminder:
Don’t just wait for the big days to take mental pictures. Start capturing the small ones, too.
Notice what’s happening. Who you’re with. How you feel.
Because years from now, it won’t just be the milestones you remember — it’ll be the quiet, beautiful moments in between.
And those are worth remembering too.

🌱 This week’s step worth taking
When a beautiful moment interrupts your daily routine, pause and take a mental picture.
Capture what’s happening, who you’re with, and how you feel.
Life is the small moments, remember them.

📚 Worth the Read
Talking about remembering, the opening of this book is unforgettable:
Made to Stick by Chip and Dan Heath — how to craft ideas that others remember.
The tactics in this book could be used to make memories stick.

🔄 Misstep of the week
Lately, I’ve been letting my mind wander in the wrong directions — comparing myself to others, imagining unwanted futures, dwelling on setbacks.
That mental bandwidth could be better spent on positivity — focusing on what I’m grateful for, and mapping out clear, logical steps towards my goals.
Thought is a powerful force, we should choose where we aim it with care.

🙌 Step Spotlight
Life can get busy.
Days filled with back to back commitments. It can be exhausting.
That’s why it is important to schedule time for yourself. Time to relax, reflect, and enjoy life for what it is.
This summer, Erin has been doing just that — prioritizing time for herself when life gets stressful.
Thanks for the important reminder Erin 🙏 We all need it!
