Grace, not pressure
Big goals matter, but so does appreciating how far you’ve already come.

Life can get overwhelming.
Our goals can get overwhelming.
Progress can get overwhelming.
I’ve always set ambitious goals for myself, and working toward them can get overwhelming.
At the start of 2025, I sat down and wrote out my goals. I started by identifying the areas of my life that I wanted to focus on, and then I wrote out a list of goals within those areas. And after that… I forgot about them. I actually only remembered writing that list a couple weeks ago.
But writing that list drilled my goals into my subconscious. As I sit here looking over the list, I’m realizing that I’ve taken strong steps towards almost all of them! And I wasn’t even trying to check them off a list.
By writing out my goals and keeping them in mind, I’ve started living like the person that can accomplish them. I’ve made a lot of progress, but strangely, it doesn’t feel like that.
As I move towards my old goals, I just replace them with new ones. I start obsessing about how I can make it to the next level, how I can push myself further, when really I should really be appreciating how far I’ve come.
It’s good to have large goals in life, but those goals are just a PART of life. Don’t get so caught up working towards your life goals that you forget to live the life that those goals are a part of. Give yourself some grace, you deserve it.
Until next week.
Step by step,
Nathan
